Kazblokistan | Saturday, September 20, 2003 - 11:55 pm Excuse the generalisations. Irish people only say British are arrogant because the British were able to suppress them for so many years. Don't forget that the British have benefited Ireland as well as vice versa. Besides, the major atrocities concucted by the British were almost 100 years ago. Times have changed somewhat. Surely you would not call all Germans anti-semitic nazi supporters because of the 1930/40s? As for French, as described by the "times" recently, they are arrogant, self-congratulatory and ignorant of foreign affairs, and dont even get me started on the European Union. However, the French stance against the Iraq war cannot be compared to their defeat in WWII. (I was for the war, by the way). As for the Russians and the Japenese, their stance too cannot be challenged, partially because the two countries (particularly Russia) has great faith in the UN and wishes to go by the book and partially because Russia cannot realistically afford to contribute resources to a conflict. Plus Russia has a tradition of friendship with Iraq and in foreign policy, France always tends to favour Russian decisions. "If the Usa hadn't come to europe's help ... all of europe would be on big German , Nazi , State ... Am i not right?" is actually an incorrect statement, however now i'm nitpicking Fair thee well Predient of Kazblokistan. |
Kazblokistan | Sunday, September 21, 2003 - 12:02 am And Rivendell, you really do love America don't you! As a sidenote, I too find Romanian history quite interesting. America may be the most powerful nation on Earth military wise and in terms of the sheer economic might it can bring to bear, however in other terms, America would not be considered the "number one world power" in, say, industrial output per capita or GDP/population percentage. In today's integrated economy, each country is as important and as "number one" as every one else. Fair thee well Predient of Kazblokistan. |
Dee | Monday, March 01, 2004 - 10:49 am Kaz That Utopian view of the world is not without its flaws it is true that each nation has a important role in the world econony but seriously no two nations are equal. It is impossible to declare Afganistan and Britians econonmy as equal and keep a straight face. The entire nation of Afganistan has a GDP of roughtly the amount Britian spends in its police force in the city of London. Also Afganistan has no export whatsoever excluding opium of course but that is not taxed and the money is funneled to other nations for clandestine uses. As for the USA being number one it is true there is no nation on earth that compares with it in any field. The balance of power is extremely lopsided. The only two economic threat to the American hyperpower is the chinese economy which has quadrupaled in the last 20 yrs and will once again quadrupal in the next 20 yrs overtaking America in GDP size and buying power. The other threat is the laughable attempt of the European Union. Given even if all the european union nations economically unified they would overtake America in GDP sive and buying power. Yet that is impossible because the europeans even today hold deep suspicions of their neighbors and will never fully intergrate. An example Kaz is that the big EU nations cannot even agree on a constitution and at this rate it might not even happen especially with France and Germany refusing to abide to the Stability Pact that they proposed themselves. Making the EU laws Void and unenforable. Another Example and this one hits closer to home for you Kaz is the EU is begining to impose immigration restrictions on the new EU members (Romania) one of them because they fear Roma Gypsies will come and spoil their nation. The freedom of movement was a pillar of the EU and it itself is being destroyed. So take care. |
