Elbonia NO CEOS | Saturday, May 15, 2004 - 07:38 pm Despite the fact that this is a war server, the 100 month rule makes sense. Many people would leave this game if the moment the regestered their country a bit too close to some other guy, they got attacked. (and I was never in AF's war range fyi) If this rule wasn't around, every player would start as far away as possible from any other active player (or any active player that's been playing their country for a while and has a good war rank). Also, considering the fact that navies are comming to this server this would mean that as soon as you start up a country, you're fair game for FB's military powers. So, in this situation, lets say I start up a country, play for a little, get invited, or ask to be invited into The Kinghts who say Knee, and the the BE/(insert any other people we have had a spat with) get their combined navy to steamroll my country into the ground. Note: our fed, since it tends to invite people who are already doing well, isn't a great example for this, but the BE, which invite almost any1 who asks and doesn't look like a spy, is very vulnerable to this strategy. Also, since acquiring a defensive army (and more importantly enough ammo) takes WAY to long, the world would be under the mercy of the developped nations (which is quite realistic, but doesn't make for fun gameplay and the attracting of new plaers. Maybe if feds could share defenses over longer distances it might, but that's another discussion...) In summary, don't whine about the 100 month rule, because if it were not here, and considering the fact that navies are comming to this server, any playing starting out, not only newbies, but people who have had their countries reset, will be under threat of destruction where ever they are, (you can run, but you can't hide kinda thing) So, if some1 pissed of another player, the moment that person regged a new country, the other player's navy (or that of his fed/friends/people who owe him a favour) would reduce the unlucky player's country to rubble. Finally, this rule also prevents cheap victories over one's enemies, (though eventually the attacking player's country will get reset) and the player who's getting attacked will have to be a pretty hardcore SC player to keep regging new countries (and many people I believe will turn to be multies to get around this, which isn't good). In closig, 100 rule good, getting your country conquered every time you start up because you have an enemy(ies)/people know you're a skilled player and don't want to have to deal with you when your empire is set up, bad. |
