I regret to inform you all that on Oct. 2 2003, my respected friend and ally, Ciaran (aka Axis) lost his battle with brain cancer.
In his time with us,Axis has made many friends and We will all miss him dearly.
I met Axis through this game and got to know him quite well through IM and IRC in which we talked daily.this game was a way for him to escape the reality of what he had to deal with on a daily basis, and was something that he enjoyed.So much so that his fiance came to the simcountry chat to let us know of his passing (which I'm sure was not an easy task for her)
Axis is an inspiration to me(and should be to all of you) in that even with his bleak situation, he stayed strong,determined and opptimistic.He lived the last days of his life with his friends and family,enjoying the his time in this game,and planning his future.He never showed signs of giving up....and for this he is a true warrior.
I send all of my thought and prayers out to his friends, family, and esspecially to his fiance,who in the midst of her mourning showed the courage and strength to come to a place that she knows nothing of,or the people there, to tell us of his passing...she has his strength.
In closing I wish that all who know him to post thier own tribute here, to remember this great player and person.
To Axis: I will miss our talks, and we all will miss you in this game.The world is a lesser place without you in it...but I know that you are in a better place.....Goodbye, my friend, I will miss you.
This is sad news that i hear . I've known axis quite good and got to talk to him on the irc server too . I just can't belive that a friend so good , kind , generous and forgiving such as Ciaran could pass away . I hope he really is in a better place now . To family and friends ... my sincere prayers and condolcences ... He was one of the greatest in this game ... He will always be in our hearts .

I have always enjoyed talking to Axis and playing the game with him. it's a great regret to me for not knowing him better, but I'm glad I had a chance to socialize with him and learn what I do know of him.
Axis was a strong player, concuring a large portion of his region and surrounding areas. He was always willing to help anyone who asked.
I am extremly greatful to his fiance for letting us know his fate. far to often people in these communities pass away and thier freinds are left with know idea. I thank her with all of my heart and prayers.
Not to many words that I can say, I'm shocked. Although I knew of his condition, I figure a good person would not be harmed. But of course, the real world is a cold empty space.
I'm kind of speechless; he seemed so alive, so much at peace with himself.

I didn’t know your real name, but I didn’t need to. I could see trough the words that you typed that you were humble, optimistic, and a good friend to those close to you. This world will surely be much different now that you are not here. I don’t pray much, but I will have a prayer in my heart for you and for those you left behind
