Lythallia | Thursday, September 18, 2003 - 04:47 pm I tell you, I agree with deadcats the EU is a load of rubbish. After studying it at degree level, the Euro has NO economic benefits, the EU central government is corrupt and completely incompetant. France and Germany keep breaking their own pacts and its all a big hypocracy. President of Lythallia. |
La Republica del Calendra | Thursday, September 18, 2003 - 09:37 pm My own opinion is that the EU is for the most part a farce. At least politically and militarily. As far as the economics is concerned I think the jury is still out. The EU fancies itself as "The United States of Europe" in a way. That is, a power to be reckoned with on a global scale the same way the United States is. Yet the sum total of European military power is only a fraction of that of the United States. How can Europe expect the rest of the world to take it seriously when it has demonstrated a distinct lack of military ability and political backbone to even take care of the problems in it's own backyard without outside intervention? Besides, look who the would-be leaders of the EU are. France and Germany? And Germany in the role as France's sidekick at that? France has definitely enjoyed it's role as the noisy minature poodle in the UN Security Council but when it faced it's own problems in the Ivory Coast it lacked the ability to airlift it's own troops and had to go to the US with hat in hand for help. Quite honestly I think Britain is well advised to stay as far away from the EU as possible. The EU has shown absolutely no ability to deal with even the small problems it faces, never mind the more serious ones. And I have no worries about the EU becoming the next United States, I'm much more worried that the United States might someday become the next European Union. |

The Soviet Union | Friday, June 11, 2004 - 12:06 am The European Union is still in the make... And it is no country...It has a long long long way to go...It can't be a superpower yet, because the people in brussel can't even get the interest of the european population... And who cares about that about france and germany...one country has to be the biggest... I live in the netherlands. and the netherlands is doing as much as the other countries... with each country its own ability... People just have to shit on borders... its the nationalistic and patriotic fuckers that are against europe... How long did it take before the dirty soil became The United States of America? |
